The Boy In the Sun
On day Michael was packing his bag ready for school. His mum said to Michael, “Michael remember to put your hat in your bag”.
“Don’t worry mum, it is in my tote tray”.
Then Michael went to school.
At school Michael didn’t find his hat. Michael was terrified. He had always remembered his hat at school. But he said, “I don’t care”.
So at lunch Michael went out in the sun. He soon got sunburned and he didn’t even know it.
Later on the teacher could see the boys red burnt skin. The teacher had to hell him off. The teacher said, “now listen here Michael, I can see so much sun burn all over you. Anyway, now where is your hat?”
“I don’t know”.
“Well how about you look in the lost property?” said the teacher.
“Ok” said Michael.
So Michael went to the lost property.
So he went inside his classroom and went to the lost property. He looked in all kinds of places but he didn’t see his hat. But then he looked at the very bottom of the lost property bin, and guess what? He found his hat! He was so happy.
Out back in the field he put his hat on and he was free to play.

Moral of the story as decided by Room 17 children: ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HAT SO YOU DON’T GET SUNBURNT. MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR HAT IN THE RIGHT PLACE WHEN IT ISN’T ON YOUR HEAD, SO YOU KNOW WHERE IT IS FOR NEXT TIME!!
Sun Poem
The sun looks like a giant meteor,
The sun looks like a planet.
The sun sounds like a microwave,
The sun sounds like a tidal wave.
The sun feels like you’re on fire,
The sun feels like you’re in a fire heaven.

Sunburn Poem
Sunburn looks like tomato sauce on your skin,
Sunburn looks like fire on your body.
Sunburn feels like you’re on fire in the light,
Sunburn feels like you’re terrified and in pain.
Sunburn sounds like you’re screaming your lungs out,
Sunburn sounds like you really have to shout.
