Ki ora It has been a great Māori language week at V.A.S. I would especially like to thank the parents who came to the Middle School powhiri. The students sang beautifully and conducted the welcome ceremony with such respect and understanding. It was a hugely moving experience. There was a great turn out, with over seventy-five parents attending and reminded me of the tremendous support you as parents provide for all our school activities. As we finalise the school calendar for next term there are many more exciting activities to come. For example this Friday we are having a special assembly for the launch of the ‘Rugby World Cup’. Each class will represent a country and in Term 3 we will conduct our own rugby competition which should be a lot fun. We also have the whole school cross-country and art exhibition to look forward to. Ka kite Jane Cameron PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS Parent/teacher interviews will be held in Week 1 of next term on: Wednesday 3 August and Thursday 4 August. School will close at 12.30pm on Wednesday 3 August. Bizzy Bods will be open from 12.30pm on the 3rd August. Please contact them through our website if you wish your child to attend their session. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s progress to date as outlined in their mid year report. Each interview slot is 15 minutes long are intended to be triadic involving you, your child and their teacher. Please note that the only maths teachers available for interviews (for students in Year 3-6) are Jason Des Forges, Alison Laxon and Anne Bridgman. Children that have another teacher for maths, other than their class teacher, will have their maths progress reported by the class teacher. TO BOOK YOUR PARENT INTERVIEW: You are now able to register a booking time with your child's teacher by going to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz The process is very straightforward. Simply enter our school code 2EQJJ and press “Go”. You will then be guided through three simple steps, and a few moments later you will get an email confirming your interview time(s). For those who do not have internet access you may come to the school office and Kinzsa OR Linley will arrange an interview time for you.
