New Victoria Ave Walking School Bus Information |

This is the newest bus for our school and runs mornings only.
We start at the shops on Victoria Avenue at 8.25am. Two adults are rostered for each trip. We head down Victoria Ave on the West side of the street crossing over Walton Street and Ingram Road to the Dragon Drive school entrance. We are currently a small bus and would welcome any new families interested in joining. This bus would suit families living on or just off Victoria Ave as well as those who drive down Victoria Ave to get to school. If anyone is interested, please contact Stella Joe:

Victoria Avenue School supports the Walking School Bus initiative – a safe, healthy and fun way for children to walk to and from school with other children, supervised by a rostered group of parents. If you and your child would be interested in joining one of our buses we would love to hear from you. Please appreciate that if your child does join a walking school bus that you will be required to be part of the roster.
The Walking Bus Scheme has now expanded to offer six routes:

BELL RD ROUTE
This is a morning bus only with 30 walkers!!
The route is as follows:
Starts at 10 Bell Rd, down Scherf Rd, crosses Portland Rd into Ingram St, left into Spencer St then to school. Parents are scheduled to walk once or twice per week.
We are always keen to talk to interested families who are keen to “come on board”. Please contact Vanessa McNaught ph 523 4529.
SHERA RD ROUTE
This is a morning bus only.
The route starts at 12 Shera Rd (8.10am), crosses at the corner of Shera Rd & Portland Rd, crosses Portland Rd into Ingram St and left into Spencer Street arriving at school by 8.35am. We currently have up to 15 walkers each day and parents are scheduled to walk once or twice a week. LINGARTH/MAHOE ROUTE
This bus runs morning and afternoon.
It departs from the corner of Combes Rd and Lingarth St at 8:10am. There are two routes - one goes along Lingarth St and the other along Mahoe Ave. The two routes meet up at the corner of Mahoe Ave and Manawa Rd at 8:25am. The bus continues up Manawa Rd, turns right into Victoria Ave, proceeds along to the crossing and down Dragon Drive.
The same route is reversed at the end of the school day with all walkers meeting at the bottom of Dragon Drive. We leave school at approx. 3.10pm.
We currently have 14 families involved which means a maximum of 20 children walking each way. Parents are scheduled to walk once or twice per week depending on how often their children walk.

SHORE RD ROUTE
We meet at Hapua Reserve at 8.20 am and walk along Shore Rd to Stirling Street and then up Stirling Street to school. We walk mornings only Monday to Thursday. We have 12 walkers at present and would love to have more.
Parents are rostered on once a week to help out. We have flexibility to accommodate children who because of family circumstances may only be able to walk fortnightly.

SPENCER ST STARWALKERS
The route begins at the intersection of Aldred Road and Spencer Street leaving at 8.20am. Two adults are rostered for each trip. The bus then crosses Glenbrook Street and continues along Spencer Street. We cross Walton Street and Ingram Road and continue along Spencer St reaching the path below the senior playground at 8:30am.
We hope to extend the bus to start from 70 Victoria Ave once we get a few more families on board.

MARTYN WILSON FIELD PARK AND WALK
Currently this bus runs mornings only.
You drive & park in the carpark at Martyn Wilson Field on Orakei Rd, dropping children off at the carpark from 8.15am. The walking school bus departs the carpark at 8.25am. The school bus walks up Shore Rd along Victoria Ave to the pedestrian crossing then down to the Dragon Drive school entrance. We need two adults to walk each morning with the children so you will be rostered on about one morning per week depending on the number of families that join.
